Fire Wardens
The role of the Fire Warden
As part of developing your emergency procedure you will have appointed an appropriate number of competent persons (Fire Wardens) to implement it.
Some of the responsibilities assigned to a Fire Warden may include;
Helping those on the premises to leave.
Checking the premises to ensure everyone has left.
Using firefighting equipment (if safe to do so).
Liaising with the fire and rescue service on arrival.
Shutting down vital or dangerous equipment, and performing a supervisory/ managing role in any fire situation.
Other duties undertaken by a Fire Warden may include regular checks and testing of general fire precautions and again they should receive appropriate training in how to undertake these duties.
Fire Wardens become ‘competent persons’ by providing them with more comprehensive training than the fire safety training that is provided to all staff.
How can RST Consultancy help you?
We can provide your appointed Fire Wardens with appropriate training. The training is tailored to your specific emergency procedure and also includes other relevant information that current guidance recommends your Fire Wardens should be aware of.
